This is the first of a series of best practices for B2B e-Commerce websites. Besides product presentations, there are other elements on your website that require your attention. We give much consideration to our appearance. Our hair, make-up, attire, and footwear create a positive persona for the people we are meeting. Your company logo is the first 'face' your potential customers will encounter when they visit your e-Commerce website, which is typically located at the top left-hand corner. Investing some thought into how it looks will go far.
Apple, FedEx, Google, 3M and Coca-Cola. These are just some of the companies with great logos. They are simple yet highly recognizable and though some have been refreshed in little ways, have withstood the years.
Why the need for Logos?
Your company logo on your B2B e-Commerce website should tell your audience what your company is doing and evoke a positive response from your target customers.
Logos are not just for B2C e-Commerce businesses owners to consider. B2B business owners need to remember that people are the decision-makers behind businesses. While pricing and customer follow-up are essential in B2B, so is the importance of pitching your brand and optimizing your wholesale online persona and presence.
What makes a good logo?
Think Unique, Simple and Original. Your wholesale business logo will be seen on business cards, letterheads, promotional products, signboards and in the media. It needs to look as good enlarged as it does on your company's website, preferably kept to a maximum of three colours.
Whether your team decides on a graphic, text or a combination of both, you should also consider what the overall colour choices may evoke for your target consumer. For instance, a predominantly black logo may spell luxury and style for a particular consumer sector but may come across as inauspicious to another.
Experimenting with various concepts and testing these ideas on colleagues and different target groups will also reveal how well the overall design has worked. Or not.
Finally, it would also be a good idea to study the competitors in your field. Analyzing why you like or do not like their logos will probably help your focus or eliminate certain choices before working on your design.
